Why Hand-Reared Lorikeets Are Different
Hand-rearing involves:
Specialised formula feeds up to five times daily
Early mornings and late nights
Daily handling to build trust
Careful weaning and development monitoring
This process creates birds that see humans as companions, not threats. That’s why hand-reared Lorikeets offer outstanding value—they’re ready to bond with their new owners from day one.
Availability & Seasonal Pricing
Availability varies depending on the breeding season.
Outside peak breeding periods, baby Lorikeets may be limited, and pricing can be higher due to scarcity.
Check out the baby Olive Scaly Lorikeets in the video below. They are so cute.

Breeding Lorikeets
Many breeding failures occur because owners unknowingly have two birds of the same sex. We strongly recommend DNA testing to ensure a genuine pair.
Genuine Rainbow Lorikeet pairs: $299 – $399 per pair
DNA testing gives the best chance of breeding success
Are Lorikeets Messy?
Yes—Lorikeets are messy birds.
Because their diet is nectar-based, their droppings are very runny. If you plan to keep a Lorikeet indoors, place the cage on tiles or an easy-to-clean surface.
Our recommendation:
If you want an amazing pet Lorikeet, choose a hand-reared, hand-tame baby.
If you want to keep your Lorikeet’s mess to a minimum start with the Breeders Secret Bird Butler Acrylic Feeder.
It’s tough and keeps seed mess in the cage not on your floor.
