If you looking for a Canary and you live in Melbourne then you are at the right place. At Victorian Bird Company, we regularly have Canaries of various colours. We have beautiful males that are excellent whistlers, and nice pairs that are perfect for breeding.
There are also many different types of canaries such as Glosters and Norwich, and some rarer ones such as the Yorkshire, and Dutch Frill.
At VBC we have many of these available but most commonly the standard yellow or varigated canary and the Border canary. The prices range from $29-$39 for more common canaries and $55-$79 for rarer canaries.

Canary Dietary Requirements
At VBC we feed Canary Mix and a high-quality crumble to our Canaries to ensure their diet is full of protein and nutrients and to help them stay healthy. All of which can be found in our store.
You should also offer your Canary a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, such as carrots and broccoli, as they add vitamins to your parrot’s diet.
Fresh, clean water is a must; if your Canaries are living indoors a Vitamin D3 and Calcium Supplement is required. At VBC we use ‘Liquid Gold’.

Canary Cages and Accessories
A cage is important for your Canary; there should be plenty of room for your bird to stretch its wings and fly around, a minimum size of 50x50cm is recommended. At VBC we sell a large variety of cages, all different shapes and sizes.

Breeding Canary
Canaries are easy to breed, they breed 2-3 times a year between August and December. They lay 4 to 6 small blue eggs which hatch approximately 14 days after the female starts sitting on them.
Chicks leave the nest around 16 days and are fully weaned around 25-30 days. A wire or cane canary nest is suitable to use for breeding. Sterilised feathers or coconut fibre nesting material available from VBC should be provided for your canary to build its nest.
Canary For Sale
The Canary is native to the Canary Islands, located North-West the coast of Africa. They are beautiful, small birds who are best known for their melodious whistling. They are tough, easy to care for, and ideal for first-time bird owners. Canaries grow 12 to 14 cm and can live between 7 and 15 years.
